Peace Projects

What is Peace?

Take a moment to think about what peace
means to you. Click HERE to watch the five minute movie “What is Peace?”

Then take a moment and write down what peace means to you. Or if you feel like it, draw a picture. Start with the words; “Peace is….” Then write
or draw whatever comes to mind.

Interview other people your age--ask them what peace means to them? See if there is a pattern.
Make a top 10 list. Have classmates each draw a picture of peace. Post them in a hall or as part
of a class project.

TOP 10 List

Take a moment to watch the movie about
10 things you can do to create peace.

Peace Dove

Think about getting a group together and
creating a peace dove. Jane Goodall has
started a Peace Dove Campaign. You can
then fly the dove at the beach or a public
location. Make sure to take pictures!

Here is the link with instructions on how to
make the Peace Dove. For more info: http://giantpeacedoves.org/index.html

Peace through Understanding

Do some research on another Culture. What is
it like to be a girl in Japan or India? What is an average day like for someone in Africa?

Write a paper about it. Share it with your local
school paper or your class. Get a group together. Have one person research a specific country,
then take turns sharing what each of you learned about the various countries.

Make sure to share your story with our
Community forum. (see below)

Peace through Connection

Connect with others. Make a friend in another
country. Ask questions. Express concerns. Ask
your peers how they would handle a specific
situation. Go to our community forum and click Peaceful Youth.

Peace Game

Think of different situations that an average
person your age would encounter. For example,
a girl friend calls you and tells you how much she dislikes someone that you like very much.

Write the situations down on 3X5 cards. Then
get a discussion group going about how you
would respond to that situation and maybe what
a more appropriate response would be...

Be sure to send us your scenarios and responses.
We may help co-create a Peace Game for Youth.

Make your own Peaceful Earth

Make a Peaceful earth with a big ball and some
paper mache. Then paint it. You'll have to brush
up on your geography to get the continents right.

Then you can get creative and paint words of
peace on the globe, or whatever else your mind
can conceive of. Proudly display it somewhere prominent.

Check out the Peace Museum

A special kind of children's peace museum in
the Metro Atlanta area that has hands-on
interactive exhibits, learning centers, discovery workshops, and a resource center that all
focus on peacemaking skills, enhancing character education and making better daily choices
that lead to a more peaceful environment. A
traveling program is also available. For more information: http://www.childrenspeacecenter.org
