Using Distractions to go deeper into Meditation

I’ve been facilitating a 21 day meditation circle via teleconference.  It is wonderful.

You can find out more information under “Meditation Circles” on our home page.

Tonight while I was meditating (we did a silent meditation where everyone was muted) I noticed
a chewing type of noise.  I opened my eyes and saw my cat sleeping upside down and licking his chops but his eyes were closed.  I wondered if he was dreaming of a mouse…

Anyway, since I had already opened up my eyes and was “distracted”  I decided to use that distraction as a way to go deeper.  With my eyes open, I fully observed him with my inner body. There were no thoughts, I was just observing him.

That was my meditation.

So really, anything can be your meditation.

When you get into the habit of meditation, your life becomes a living meditation.

Peace,

Lisa
